How to make scary Halloween sign posts

Scary Halloween sign posts that point the way to the cemetery and other ghoulish locations are easy to make. Start with a plain fence picket. Paint it black. Dig a hole for the picket in the desired location. Hold the picket in the hole while stamping the dirt firmly back in.

Use random pieces of board to make the directional signs. Half pickets work great as the pointed end shows the way to each spooky location. When decorating your signs be sure some are pointing one way and some the other way before you begin.

Paint the boards in black to match the sign post. Let dry. Paint wording in white to show better. Make up scary streets for the Halloween sign post signs. A few good ideas are murderers row, insane asylum, cemetery road or witches way.

Use your imagination to make each scary Halloween sign post board unique. You can use a broomstick for the witches way sign, add a tombstone or ghost to the cemetery road sign, or add a dripping bloody knife to the murderers row sign. Drip a little blood red paint down some of the signs too.

Once your sign boards are dry, nail them to the black fence picket in random directions. If you have objects in your Halloween yard that the signs represent, try to point to them with the signs. Nail a scary object such as a skull, skull necklace or shrunken heads to the picket above the signs. Poke a candle into the ground to illuminate the sign board on Halloween.
